FRAMEWORK
Framework: The Journal of Cinema and Media, founded in 1974, is a peer-reviewed, international journal published bi-annually by Wayne State University Press. It offers radical approaches to the complexities of today’s film and media and explores a wide variety of topics in contemporary cultural studies, with special interests in prejudice, politics, and feminism. Framework has no single ideology but rather seeks to publish work from original thinkers in the forefront of new cultural and political perspectives, and follows all aspects of film and media, in any genre or type.
Frameworknow.com, Framework’s website, features guest columnists, audio interviews, reviews, essays, films, US prison focus, prejudice focus, contents list [1974-2025] and Framework history.
Framework publishes work from writers, scholars, critics, artists, and practitioners from around the world. Submissions are by invitation only and issues are edited by Framework editors and guest editors, often in dossier form under special themes. Issue contents range accross articles, interviews, reviews, dossiers, art projects and think pieces.
